Hey, I’m Melvin Darrell — a music producer, educator, and founder of Harmony GPS, a course and learning system built to help self-taught and late-starting music creators master chord progressions and finish more original songs. I also write The Music Maker’s Journal, a weekly newsletter filled with practical harmony tips, creative insights, and tools to help artists stay inspired and consistent.

I produce R&B and Alt-Pop music and run a YouTube channel that breaks down harmony, songwriting, and music theory into clear, fast, and soulful lessons — designed for creators with limited time and big goals. My content blends science-backed learning techniques, practical music theory, and personal storytelling to make music feel approachable and inspiring.

Before music, I worked as a professional accountant — a background that sharpened my skills in organization, systems thinking, and project execution. I’ve spent the past 8+ years producing, mixing, and mentoring artists while freelancing at Rec Philly and helping a 1,000+ member artist community through workshops, studio sessions, and live sound support.

Today, I help creators all over the world build systems for consistent music-making — through digital products like The Harmony Vault and guided learning via Harmony GPS.
